Brooklyn-based band Atomic Tom had their instruments stolen, but carried on, performing their single “Take Me Out” on their iPhones while on the B train.
Easily the best iPhone performance I’ve seen.

= Ok Go + Ira Glass + Zach Galifianakis + … well, you’ll have to watch to find out.

Despite hearing and knowing about Bela Fleck and the Flecktones for years now, it has been only recently that I’ve been taking the time to explore their music.
Normally, I would have been inspired by the excellent work of Bela Fleck that I’ve already encountered, such as his multiple collaborations with Edgar Meyer and Mike Marshall (I was even lucky enough to catch a couple of their live shows).
However, it was Flecktones bass player Victor Wooten that caught my attention. Here he is, performing a solo electric bass version of Amazing Grace during their Live at the Quick performance back in 2002.
Inspiring stuff. Enjoy.
This short film, by Alex Ronan, is absolutely jaw-dropping. That it is completely done in cgi, and that he composed the score, makes it all the more impressive.

Won’t someone get this bear some honey?!
Courtesy of Jamie at Always More to Hear, check out this video of Pomplamoose, a multi-instrumentalist duo from California. Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn rip it making their own original music as well as some great covers.
This has to be my favorite of theirs: Beat the Horse
Also, be sure to check out their cover of Single Ladies. Here are some of their links:

There have been an increasing number of stories about how robots are permeating our daily lives. We’re still a far ways away from living like the Jetsons, but check out these latest robots for how they can entertain and serve you. Pretty soon, we won’t have to do anything ourselves, such as playing soccer, playing gamelan drums, and solving that pesky Rubik’s Cube.
But what’s the one thing that’s missing from our daily lives where robots can truly help?
Serving us Ramen!!!
It might not be all fun and games though, what with Superfast Killer Terminator hands and Robot Dinosaurs on the loose.
Yeesh…

This video shows the fastest people doing all sorts of things: clapping, stacking, stamping, undressing, scoring a goal in soccer, and many more.
The last one in the vid is a shout out to a couple I know that is always one-upping each other.

Simply Amazing.
It reminds me of some of the most intense moments in Koyaanisqatsi, which stand in sharp contrast to much of the movie. You can view that whole film here, but it has ads which ruins the experience. I highly recommend renting it and immersing yourself in Philip Glass’s masterpiece of a film score.
On an unrelated note, I’m glad I figured out how to embed vimeo in this blog finally.
Enjoy.
